We are excited to release yet another feature that further automates the Wooly and Shopify connection. This update gives companies an even easier way to unify and streamline both their ambassador and ecommerce initiatives.

Over the years, the ability to interact with consumers has dramatically changed with online selling. Instead of brick-and-mortar shops, numerous retailers now prioritize ecommerce software. And when it comes to ecommerce software, Shopify is a popular option. The comprehensive platform includes features such as quick setup, security, fast load time, and templates for creating a fantastic digital store.

Shopify is also well known for its selection of integrations with third-party apps. Speaking of other applications, the Wooly ambassador marketing platform natively integrates with Shopify.

Wooly developed a custom integration used by hundreds of clients to give Shopify store owners built-in capabilities. When the platforms talk to each other, managing your ambassadors and ecommerce business is much simpler. Additionally, the Wooly and Shopify integration saves massive amounts of time and effort.

The most recent time saver in the Wooly app is automatic Shopify tags.

This article will first cover what a Shopify tag is, how to start using them, and the top reasons you'll fall in love with automatic tags.

The Ubiquitous Digital Tag

If you're in social media, web design, app development, marketing, data science, or digital content, you likely understand tags and their potential uses.

What is a tag?

A tag is a digital label that signifies a distinct group or category. Most commonly, tags are identifiers that data owners generate to mark and provide structure.

Tags are extremely useful for classifying things like online information, ownership, and actions. For example, we tag photos, mark posts, and denote identification.

How Do Shopify Tags Work?

Shopify tags serve as the foundation for organizing all kinds of things such as customers, orders, inventory, transfers, refunds, and more. Once tags are defined, you can find and filter all your data with a few clicks.

The Shopify Help Center published a useful guide: creating and using tags in Shopify if you would like to learn more.

Automatic Tags in Shopify

Manually generating tags in Shopify is pretty straightforward, but the real power comes when tags are automated.

Within Wooly, a tag is automatically created for each of your programs.  This tag, referred to as the Program Key, is used to identify your program members in 3rd party applications, such as Shopify and Klaviyo.

To use this new feature with Shopify, simply enable Shopify Tags in your program's settings. Wooly will sync all program members to their Shopify customer records by adding the program key as a Shopify tag.

Enabling automatic tags is super easy, and the steps are explained in the Wooly Knowledge Base article, Tag Program Members in Shopify

Why Use Shopify Tags?

Brands frequently roll out the red carpet for their best customers and super fans. Wooly’s automation and tags open a host of possibilities. One of the top benefits of tagging advocates is that you can customize the shopping experiences in your Shopify admin for your advocacy groups.

Imagine how valuable ambassadors feel when they have access to exclusive items, special pricing, and shipping options. Once a tag is made, Wooly integration automatically connects the individual to Shopify. The label triggers the uniquely designed experience and treatment.

Many companies reward ambassadors with free shipping on every order. With tags, ambassadors never need to enter discount codes because the perk is automatically applied.

Another way to take care of your community of marketers is to provide unique discounts for your different programs. Amongst the many perks of being a brand ambassador, you might offer employees 50% off purchases and 30% off for all ambassadors.

Shopify Reports

Shopify reports provide insight into your ecommerce store. Companies use reports to monitor and evaluate recent activities, learn about customers, measure online store speed, and look at transaction data.

With the Wooly tagging feature, reports include information about your ambassadors and their activities. Not only can you track events and attribute sales in Wooly, but your Shopify reports will also provide a second source to monitor programs.

Recap of Automated Shopify Tags

Automatic Shopify tags reduce the tedious and time-consuming aspects of running ambassador programs. They also enable a personalized shopping experience that nurtures a great community feel.
